The Phoenix Museum of History is dedicated to providing students with high-quality experiences that explore history, culture, and community.
School Programs are aligned with the Arizona Department of Education Standards in Social Studies and other subject areas when appropriate. All programs must be booked four weeks in advance. Please see the 'Contact Us' tab for contact information.

School Tours
-History Squared: Adaptation to the Desert over Time: This 2.5 hour activity day features guided tours of the Phoenix Museum of History and the Rosson House Museum (rossonhousemuseum.org) and three hands-on stations. Students will learn about 2,000 Years of Culinary Adventures in the Desert, Planting the Past, and Map It Out: The History of Heritage Square. Students plant and take home a desert garden and try some mesquite pod jelly. Recommended for 4th grade and older. Available Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 1, 2008 - April 30, 2009. The tour is sponsored by the Phoenix Elementary School District #1. PESD 4th grade classrooms receive priority booking. Click Here for requirements.
-Guided Tour: A one-hour guided tour of the Phoenix Museum of History featuring the Hohokam, the founding of Phoenix, and Anglo settlement. Students will also see the Museum's newest temporary exhibit, "El Espejo Mexico Americano: The Mexican American Mirror. This exhibit explores the history of Mexican Americans in Phoenix. Recommended for 2nd grade and older. Click here for requirements.

-Self-guided Visit: Approximately one-hour tour of the Phoenix Museum of History permanent galleries and its newest temporary exhibit, "El Espejo Mexico Americano: The Mexican American Mirror." In Your Classroom:
-El Espejo In Your Class
Museum Docents or Staff present a literacy-based program exploring the history of Mexican Americans in Phoenix. Limited to 4th grade classrooms. Program lasts 60 minutes and is limited to 30 students at a time. You provide a classroom with a sink and chalkboard and we bring the rest! Click here for requirements.
Docents will travel only to sites within the city limits of Phoenix.

Is there a gift shop at the museum? Yes! Please indicate when you are scheduling your tour if your class would like to visit the gift shop. You can also pre-purchase souvenir bags. $1 memento bags contain an Arizona flag, Chinese finger puzzle, and a wooden top. If you want to purchase memento bags, please inform the Education Department when you book your tour or outreach presentation.
Does the museum offer financial assistance? The Museum offers guided tours of the Museum free of charge for Title I schools. Please call or email for more information.

It is recommended that you schedule your visit at least four weeks in advance.
Payment (in form of check, cash, purchase order, or credit card) must be given to museum 1 week prior to day of vist. 50% refunds will be given to tours that cancel 2 business days in advance of tour. Refunds will not be given to tours that cancel less than 2 business days in advance or are no-shows on the day of the tour.
